My very first attempt at a matte painting so please be gentle with me. I am quite pleased with the result considering it`s my first one I enjoyed this loads so will try another matte painting but I`ll watch loads of tutorials first as I need to learn the techniques used in this particular discipline.

Anyway this was inspired by a photo my brother took which just shouted `Superman` to me - [link]

- Lampisia is a 3D Matte Painting of a beautiful ancient city built on water.
I spent quite some time designing every detail and trying to make the architecture charming and refined, mixing elements from Gothic, Islamic and the Venetian architecture. I modeled and textured everything in Maya and I lit and rendered the scene in Vray. I finalized the image in Photoshop. -. CLEANED .-

Matte painting of the House Bolton of the Dreadfort in the story of Game of Thrones. Idea was to create dramatic image depicting sinister castle in the cold, mountain environment. No big story behind it .) Total time around 40h, rendering of the castle only done in 3d Max/VRay. Final touches and compositing - PS. Around 10 photos used to create the final composition. My first digital Matte Painting using Cinema 4D and After Effects

Matte painting of a fantasy-like city, situated somewhere on a vast rocky desert. 3D architecture was built and rendered in Maya with simple texturing as a base for further painting in Photoshop.

A matte made for a promotional campaign of sf flick `After the Fall`. The size was pretty big (around 10k) since the painting had to be divided into several posters.

Finished late last year I really dig the outcome of this one. Later it even made its way into Exposandeacute 9, which makes me appreciate the outcome even more. Quite some work went into it. Originally it wasn`t planned to be a scifi pic. It actually should have become a pure nature piece.
